I did the 50 mile in 2008. I would recommend this race to anyone doing their first 100. The trail is wide, well-marked, and has an good running surface. No rocks or roots! The aid stations were well-stocked and the volunteers were enthusiastic. I stayed at the Hampton Inn, where several other runners were also staying. They provided breakfast-to-go bags for the runners. It was nice being able to meet other runners and trade stories.

I, along with a few NCR Trails Snails are looking forward to our annual pilgrimage to Umstead with its world famous aid stations – try the sweet tea … it is better than Gatorade. Thanks to Blake and his team for putting on a first class event.
